How FusionTurf warranty applies to DIY installs
Your FusionTurf warranty protects against covered product defects when the turf is installed and maintained according to the current FusionTurf installation guidelines. A professional installation typically adds a separate workmanship warranty that covers labor and installation quality. DIY projects do not include that workmanship coverage.
The two parts of protection
- Product warranty: From FusionTurf. Covers eligible manufacturing defects when installed to spec and properly maintained.
- Workmanship warranty: From the installer. Covers labor and install quality. Included when you use a professional installer, not included with DIY.
When a DIY install can qualify
- You follow the most current FusionTurf installation guide for your product and application.
- Base, drainage, and edge conditions meet spec for your site and climate.
- Only approved seaming methods, adhesives, tapes, nails, and fasteners are used as specified.
- Infill type and amount match the product guidance for safety, performance, and stability.
- Pile direction, seaming, trimming, and power brooming are done per guide to avoid stress and distortion.
- Ongoing care meets the maintenance schedule in the warranty document.
What can void product coverage
- Skipping required base prep, compaction, drainage, or edge restraint.
- Using non approved adhesives, tapes, infills, or fasteners.
- Improper seaming, excessive stretch, or incorrect pile orientation.
- Heat sources, fire, reflective window glare, or chemical damage.
- Improper use beyond the product rating or heavy equipment abuse.
- Neglecting maintenance, contamination, or poor sanitation on pet areas.
What to document during your DIY install
Good documentation makes warranty support fast and clean. Save:
- Proof of purchase with product name, lot or roll numbers, and square footage.
- Photos of each step: excavation, base layers, compaction, geotextile, turf layout, seams, infill, and final grooming.
- Materials list with brands and product data sheets for adhesives, tapes, nails, stakes, and infill.
- Measurements for slope, drainage placements, and edge restraints.
- Any test results you capture such as compaction or moisture checks.
Care and maintenance to keep coverage intact
- Brush and groom on the recommended schedule to keep fibers upright and distribute infill.
- Top up infill when levels drop to the specified range.
- Keep drains, seams, and edges clear of debris and weeds.
- Clean spills promptly. Use only approved cleaners and rinse thoroughly.
- Manage pet areas with regular sanitation and adequate drainage.
- Protect from hot objects and reflective heat.
